With over 32 years of experience in corporate travel, Michael Hare, Chief Executive Officer of Portman Travel, is a highly knowledgeable and dedicated business travel professional. Appointed as the Chairman of the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) in January 2010, he is one of the industry’s most respected authorities on corporate travel management. In 2011 Michael joined the Board of Directors at Radius Travel and in January 2013 was appointed Chairman of the Board.

A true entrepreneur, Michael began his career at the age of 16 and by the age of 19 started his own business travel company, giving him unique insight and firsthand experience in all functions and operational aspects of business travel management. Michael’s passion and dedication for corporate travel saw his company grow to be a Top 12 Travel Management Company winning numerous awards and accolades, before its sale to Portman Travel in 2008.

Michael joined the Portman Travel board as Chief Operating Officer responsible for operations and technology in 2008, instigating many changes and improvements in the customer care experience.

In October 2009, Michael was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Portman Travel. Under his strong, knowledgeable and passionate leadership Portman Travel has flourished winning many new blue chip clients and now employs over 500 people operating from 17 locations.

Michael’s entrepreneurial spirit and customer centric attitude have created a positive and proactive culture throughout Portman. Through operating an open door policy and encouraging empowerment among colleagues, he has created an environment which fosters innovation and continuous improvement in the services and added value Portman offer clients.

Fred Buchberger // Managing Director, DERPART (Germany)

Fred Buchberger has been the Managing Director of DERPART Travel Service since 1999. He served as a member on the DERPART Board from 2006 to 2010, and is currently a member of the DERPART Advisory Board.

With a passion for corporate travel, Fred started from the ground up as a young travel agent in corporate business in 1981 after completing travel industry training. Previously, he held executive and managerial positions with American Airlines and Lufthansa City Center.

Shannon Hyland // President & CEO, Radius Travel (United States)

Shannon is a 20-year travel industry expert bringing deep finance, administration and corporate development experience to Radius Travel HQ and the entire Radius network. Shannon is focused on delivering value to the network and, in turn, helping Member Agencies attain their business objectives.

Shannon served as the Chief Financial Officer at Radius Travel for 4 years prior to advancing to his current role. An entrepreneur at heart, Shannon previously served as CFO of Groople, an online start-up company devoted to group travel planning. Prior to that, he was CFO for Mark Travel Corp. and Cendant’s Galileo Americas. In addition, he served in senior finance and operations roles for America West, United and Continental airlines, as well as Amerada Hess Energy.

Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Arizona State University and an MBA in finance and international business from New York University. He and his family reside in suburban Maryland.

Pesi Patel // Director, Cox & Kings Limited (India)

Pesi Patel has been integral in developing and evaluating strategies for Cox and Kings since 1999. He is also a non-executive Director of the Board of Cox and Kings (India).

Pesi’s career began in his family’s industrial products manufacturing business. He oversaw the sales and marketing of the products and lead the division in manufacturing these products. Ultimately in 1982, Pesi gained responsibility for running the entire company. Under his leadership, the company experienced growth both structurally and financially.

Pesi holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce from Sydenham College, Bombay University.

Brian Robertson // COO, Vision 2000 Travel Group Inc. (Canada)

Brian D. Robertson is Chief Operating Officer at Vision 2000 Travel Group Inc., Canada's Premier Travel Management Company. Brian began his travel industry career in 1978 and has held various management and executive positions within the industry. Brian is a founding partner and director of Vision 2000 Travel Group, a Radius Travel shareholder company with head offices in Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec.

Brian achieved the Global Leadership Professional (GLP) designation from the GBTA Foundation - Global Leadership Program with The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He also holds CTC and CTE designations. In addition to sitting on the Board of Radius, Brian is a member (and previous board member) of the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC), the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE), the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, SKAL International.

Bill Tech // President & CEO, Travel and Transport Inc.

Bill was named President and CEO of Travel and Transport in January of 1998. He joined the Travel and Transport team in 1987 as regional vice president in Chicago and was promoted to Vice President, Administration in 1992 when he relocated to Omaha. Bill was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1997. Bill is also a member of Travel and Transport’s Board of Directors.

Bill has served on the Board of Directors of Radius Travel since 1998 and is a past Chairman of the Board. In 2006, Bill was appointed to the Board of Directors of The Omaha Sister Cities Association, Board of Directors of the First Westroads Bank of Omaha, and Board of Directors of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining Travel and Transport, Bill was Vice President, Administration at Continental Bank in Chicago for 15 years. He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and an MBA in international finance from De Paul University. He is also a CTC and a CTIE.

Grant Wilson // Chairman, CT Partners (Australia)

Grant brings a mix of Asia Pacific finance, general management and travel experience to Radius Travel's Board of Directors. Based in Sydney, Grant is joint managing director of TravelEdge, a corporate travel company he co-founded in 2000, and is Chairman of CT Partners, Radius' Australian agency partner. Grant spent many years with the Barclays Bank Group, principally in investment banking in Australia and the UK, before joining Qantas in 1995. At Qantas, Grant had responsibility for the airline’s corporate finance activities including outsourcing, business acquisitions and divestments.

Grant is a statistician by training and has an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he was awarded a scholarship in Public Policy. Grant is married with 3 children.
